Zweck der Stiftung ist es, durch den Ersatz und die erhebliche Verminderung von Tierversuchen die Würde und das Wohlergehen des Tieres zu schützen. Der Stiftungszweck soll erreicht werden durch: die Förderung von Alternativmethoden zu Tierversuchen im Sinne der 3R (Replace, Reduce, Refine nach Russel and Burch, 1959). Einzelheiten regelt das Förderreglement; den Dialog mit der Wissenschaft und der Öffentlichkeit sowie den Ersatz für gesetzliche Rahmenbedingungen zum Schutz der Versuchtstiere. Aus den Mitteln der Stiftung werden keine Tierversuche finanziert.
Replacing animal experiments: For more than 40 years our commitment to the welfare and dignity of experimental animals constitues the basis for all our activities. We are seeking dialog and cooperation, respect other positions but do not compromise our principles. We are cultivating and constantly expanding our network.
The Animalfree Research foundation does not fund any animal experiments. Excluded from funding are in particular: 1) Projects with little or no expected impact on replacement and / or reduction of animal experiments. 2) Scientific projects with no prospect of application as an alternative method. 3) Projects that disregard the animal’s dignity.
